The members of Mishawaka High School’s Science Super Bowl team have begun preparing for
this year’s competition season. Led by Mrs. Brummett and Mr. Hahn, the five members meet with each other every week in order to tackle this year’s Academic Super Bowl topic: “Hoosier Heritage”. Each year, the overall topic of the Super Bowl changes, but as stated by Mrs. Brummett there is “always some focus on Biology/Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics.” This year for example - being that the topic is “Hoosier Heritage” - the competition breaks down the basic topics of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics into categories relevant to Indiana’s history. Under Physics, one would find questions about the kinematics (speed, distance, velocity, etc.) concerning the Indianapolis 500. Under Biology, one would find questions relevant to the Indiana Dunes or the limestone caves in Indiana. With these categories (and all others provided in a convenient study guide for the participants) in mind, the team continues to do their best in preparing for their competitions, one which will occur at the beginning of March in Warsaw and a regional meet which will take place sometime in April.
The Alltold staff wishes the best of luck to Bradley Conn, Todd Conn, Kyle Kern, Solomon
Muturi, and Joy Thompson as they compete in the Science Super Bowl this year!
